MEET THE FARMERS

The fruit, herbs and spices in our meads are sourced from Big Island farmers. We appreciate the hard work that goes into growing food, harvesting and processing.

Ron Hanson | The Honey Bee Company

Ron Hanson of The Honey Bee Company is our primary honey provider, supplying the exceptional local honey that gives Kvasir’s Mead its signature flavor. In the Emmy Award-winning series Eating Our Roots—created by Chef Ippy Aiona of Ippy’s Hawaiian Barbeque and producer Kolby Moser, founder of Aria Studios—Kvasir’s Mead is featured in the final episode of Season 2, alongside Ron Hanson, who we invited to deliver the honey and Vi Girbino of Firebird Farm, delivering lilikoi that goes into our iconic Lilith'Koi Mead, featuring Tomek's familiar, the feline Lilith.

The series first aired last year on Hawaii News Now and is now back for its second season, continuing to explore the rich connections between food, culture, and community across Hawaiʻi.

Botanical World Adventures

We source our rare Lemondrop mangosteens from Botanical World Adventures famous for their thrilling zipline tours through Hawai‘i’s lush landscapes. These elusive fruits are a key ingredient in our C-Mead, adding a uniquely bright and tangy twist. Since Lemondrop mangosteens are hard to find, we even head out ourselves to handpick them—making sure every batch captures that fresh, adventurous spirit.

Hilo Shark's Hawai'i

Farmer Tom Sharkey, known as Sharkey, has been cultivating Hawaiian coffee, cacao, and vanilla on his farm just north of Hilo on the Hamakua Coast for over 25 years. His farm is a hub for agritourism, where visitors can experience hands-on tours and sample amazing chocolate produced right on the property. Sharkey is passionate about growing Hawai‘i’s agricultural community—mentoring new farmers, sharing his deep knowledge, and connecting the local cacao industry with opportunities that support sustainable growth. A natural storyteller, Tom makes every visit both educational and delicious. Check out Hilo Shark’s Hawai'i to book a tour and taste the rich flavors of his farm’s bounty. As Sharkey says, “It’s a lot of work, but it’s work I love… it’s really all about doing what you love and passing it on.”

Adaptations

We get our organic cinnamon and cloves from Adaptations, a Hawai‘i-based food hub known for working directly with local growers. These bold spices are the backbone of our seasonal Krampus mead—a dark, spiced brew inspired by the strong, mulled wines of old-world Europe. Crafted for colder nights and firelight gatherings, it’s the kind of mead that bites back. Perfect for Halloween and the deep winter season.
